What to Do When Your Android Phone or Tablet Won’t Turn On
android wont turn on

You turn on your Android phone or tablet by pressing its power button — simple. If that button won’t work, your device isn’t necessarily broken — there are ways to bring it back to life.

This problem can also be caused by hardware damage. Your phone or tablet may not be powering on because it’s broken. But, if there’s a software problem, the steps here will fix it.

Charge Your Phone or Tablet For a Few Minutes
If your Android device’s battery is almost dead, you’ll often see an “empty battery” indicator on the screen when you try to turn it on. But, if you let the battery completely die, your phone or tablet won’t respond at all when you press the Power button.

To fix this problem, just plug your Android phone or tablet into a wall charger and let it charge. You can’t just plug it in and try to turn it on immediately — you’ll need to give it a few minutes to charge first.

Plug it in and let it charge for fifteen minutes or so. Come back later and try to power it on with the Power button. If the problem was caused by a dead battery, it should boot up normally.

If it doesn’t work at all, try plugging the device in with a different cable and charger. The charger or cable could be broken and preventing an otherwise-good device from charging.

Pull the Battery or Long-Press the Power Button
How to Power Cycle Your Gadgets To Fix Freezes and Other Problems
Like other operating systems, Android can sometimes hard-freeze and refuse to respond. If Android is completely frozen, your device may be powered on and running — but the screen won’t turn on because the operating system is frozen and not responding to button presses.

You’ll need to perform a “hard reset,” also known as a “power cycle,” to fix these types of freezes. This cuts the power to your phone or tablet entirely, forcing it to shut down and boot back up.

On a phone or tablet with a removable battery, you can remove the battery, wait about ten seconds, and then plug the battery back in and boot it up.

On a phone or tablet without a removable battery — that includes most modern Android devices — you’ll need to long-press the Power button. Press your device’s Power button and hold it down. You should only have to hold the Power button down for ten seconds, but you may have to hold it down for thirty seconds or longer. This will cut the power to your phone or tablet and force it to boot back up, fixing any hard freezes.

Perform a Factory Reset From Recovery Mode
How to Factory Reset Your Android Phone or Tablet When It Won’t Boot
In some cases, your phone or tablet might begin booting, but the Android operating system might crash or freeze immediately.

To fix this, Android can boot straight to a recovery mode menu, where you can perform a factory reset. If your device is booting up before freezing or experiencing other serious problems, use recovery mode to perform a factory reset.

To do this, you’ll first need to power down your phone or tablet and then boot it up by holding down several buttons at the same time. The exact combination of buttons you need depends on your device. Perform a web search for the name of your device and “recovery mode” to find the buttons it needs. For example, the Samsung Galaxy S6 requires you to hold Volume Up + Home + Power.

The Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL will both display certain icons in the top right of the Status Bar as a way of informing you about what is currently active or not. These can be annoying or a bit redundant for some and this guide shows you how to hide individual status bar icons.

This video demonstrates a performance issue I am experiencing with the Pixel Launcher running on the OG Pixel XL 128. When in the Pixel Launcher, folder animations are slow and janky, the drawer animation is janky, and even just moving an icon around the desktop is slow and janky. I recorded a video of the behavior with GPU profiling enabled in the developer options. Recorded the video via adb shell and the command “screenrecord /path/to/file”. In this video you see me start with Nova launcher and demonstrate the smooth animation and lack of frame drops while dragging an icon. I then switch to the Pixel launcher and do the same, where you will see significant frame drops, and finally switch back to Nova launcher so you can see the performance has been restored.

I first started experiencing this issue with the OTA update to Oreo. Since then, I have flashed the device with the full OTA. No change. Flashed the device with the full disk image via fastboot. No change. Factory reset. No change. Had Google replace the device under warranty. No change. Reset the data on the Google Pixel Launcher. At first it was fine, but after adding my icons and setting my desktops back the way I like, the performance issue had returned. At this point, there was nothing left for me to try. So, I switched to Nova Launcher which I hadn't used in years, and configured it to look as close to the Pixel launcher as possible. The performance within the Nova Launcher is perfect. Identical to the performance of the Pixel Launcher when I was running Nougat. Most recently, I updated to the Pixel Launcher APK from the Pixel 2 / Pixel 2 XL and was optimistic that this bug would have been resolved. No dice. I do not mind the Nova Launcher, but I do mind that I am forced to use it because the Pixel launcher performs so poorly.

Here's a link to the XDA thread where I've been posting my history with the issue. -

Google Pixel 3 XL -- Will it be a Flagship Killer? Will it Be Better than the Upcoming Apple iPhone Model

Expected Release Date: October 4, 2018

Bezels on both models are significantly smaller than their Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL predecessors

Cut-outs on upper and lower bezels for both phones indicate:
Google’s retention of front-facing stereo speakers the addition of dual, front-facing cameras
May keep the pressure sensitive sides for Google Assistant squeeze functionality

Likely to have Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
Possible improvement in video recording potential to Ultra-HD
Potential increase in RAM from 4GB to 6GB (or even 8GB)
Storage capacity will likely remain at 64GB and 128GB
Note: Pixel 2 and 2 XL did not have microSD support for storage expansion
Similar battery capacity as that of the Pixel 2 (2700mAh) and Pixel 2 XL (3520mAh)
No headphone jack
Slim possibility of wireless charging but highly desired/anticipated by consumers
Google is sourcing the OLED displays for the Pixel 3 through LG (again)

All these Details are Rumored.

The problem was solved!

The problem was that I blocked the sensor with my crystal protector (or it was very dirty with fluffs) for this reason my phone "thought" that my face or my ear was close then it turned black the screen and deactivate all the functions.

Recover Lost / Deleted Data from Google Pixel

In this tutorial we will just be going through the steps of creating a timelapse using still images and the application Open Camera. I prefer this method because it uses the full image sensor and produces the highest quality plus added control compared to apps that automatically create timelapses. This method will take longer in post production but I personally think its worth it. All video was filmed using the Google Pixel 2 XL.
